Loading Logs Into A 40' High Cube Container

I got an interesting call from a gentleman in California tonight.  He exports teak from Costa Rica to India in 40' storage containers and wanted my advice on the best way to load his containers....
He proceeded to give me the link to the following video on YouTube.  After watching this setup, I told him that this was the best bang for his buck that I could think of for loading a container with logs.  The guys in this video are pretty crafty.

What really impressed me about the system is that they made no modifications to the structure of the container. Which extends the life and quality of the container, keeping it wind and water tight for years and preventing rust spots.
This is similar to our storage  container shelving brackets, which also require no drilling or cutting into the container.

Storage Container modification is in demand. Everything from homes to mobile offices can be made from the abudance of storage containers once used for shipping goods accross the ocean.

This is the process by which we refurbish our storage / shipping containers. First we grind all of the loose / flaky rust off. Then we prime all of the rusty spots with a "rust converter" ...
... which turns the rust into a hard, paintable surface. Then we paint the container with a high quality oil based paint. Although it's not shown in the video, the roof of the container is ground, primed, and painted also.

Refurbished storage containers serve several purposes including... residential storage, ground and water shipping containers and even as green building materials for homes across the U.S. In fact several architecs through out the country have designed homes using steel stroage containers because they are abundant and provide a soild, structured room.
I'm often asked about the flooring of the shipping containers I sell. People want to know how thick the wood flooring is...
...which direction the cross members run, how thick the cross members are, etc. I recently took a new 20' storage container into stock that had a damaged floor. The floor of the shipping container was pushed up a bit in the back corner which prompted me to remove that section of flooring in order to re-install it properly. While doing so, I thought it would be a great opportunity to shoot some video of how they're put together.

This week I toured the state of the art Maersk APM Terminal in Portsmouth Virginia...
Here, a ship carrying thousands of shipping containers (full of all the things we import) docks and is unloaded by (6) massive computer controlled gantry cranes. When a truck enters this facility, the RFID chip in the truck is detected and the computers operating the cranes automatically starts digging out the container that the truck is there to pick up from a stack of thousands of containers. It's impressive...
This is video I shot of a customer who purchased a 20' storage container. He had a friend pick it up with his flatbed trailer...
His friend was doing a job in the area and happened to have his John Deere tractor loaded on the trailer at the time. He backed the trailer off and we set the container down with the doors facing the back of the trailer and he simply drove the tractor up into the container.
The installation of this man door is our first container modification project...
Using skilled craftsman, it came out looking great! In addition to man doors, we can install windows (slide open with security bars), roll up doors, side vents, turbine roof vents, lock boxes, and more. Call or email for pricing.
